Timber Trader News - April 2014 issue: Automation is the key to the future
FRAME AUSTRALIA 2016
A conference and exhibition on timber building design, prefabrication and construction.
Session 3B / 1.30pm / Timber and prefabrication topics
“Automated production of panelised floors and walls in prefabricated timber framing plants”
Review of the advantages in using modern automated equipment for timber framing and cladding of walls and floors for offsite construction, with a particular focus on the move towards larger closed panels with factory-fitted insulation, windows, doors, and services including electrical and plumbing. High quality design and manufacture are reliant on in-house software and data system capabilities for CNC output in cutting, routing, fixing and other operations in the production plant. The review will consider the various steps in which automation can be used for fabricators to move towards fully closed panel solutions, focussing on both current trends and the lessons that can be learnt from countries throughout Europe.
